Cameron University, located in Lawton, does not have a football team but the Aggies baseball, basketball, and volleyball teams are quite popular spectator sports.

There are several golf courses in the Lawton area, including two on Fort Sill.

Just under an hour and a half away from base is the capital of Oklahoma City which is host to many different sports teams. This area has 2 colleges with their own athletics programs, including the Oklahoma City University Stars and the University of Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are the city's NBA team. The Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros is the Oklahoma City Redhawks, a minor league baseball team. For hockey fans, the Oklahoma City Barons play in the AHL as an affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.

The Big 12 Baseball Tournament is held at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City every year. The city is also known for hosting the World Cup of Softball and the NCAA Women's College World Series.

Horse and equine events are common at fairgrounds throughout the year, and horse racing can be found downtown at Remington Park.

Hunting: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation lists antelope, bear, dove, deer, elk, feral hogs, mountain lion, quail, pheasant, turkey, and assorted waterfowl and migrating birds, and furbearers as game animals.

Fishing: Gar, eel, shad, catfish, pike, bass and sunfish are game fish in Oklahoma. Much of the fishing in Oklahoma is on the east side of the state, in the larger reservoir lakes and rivers. Several lakes and the Red River, the biggest in the state, are nearby Fort Sill. Fishing is regulated by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
